General TedX Talk considerations
Typically, 5-10 min long. Please keep it to this time-limit.
Your topic can be anything that you feel passionate about. Go back to
your "what makes your heart sing?" discussion just as a guidance.
Basically, the focus is how effectively are you able to lead audience
communicating the importance of your talk.
Here is what I wrote for the discussion, use it if you need, if it’s not good
enough, you can start a new topic.
"If you’re not happy and passionate about the work you do, you might fail to have
a great career, and if you’re not having a great time at a great career, it will be
harder for you to generate enthusiasm through your presentations. That’s why
career, happiness, and the ability to inspire people are connected. " When I was
little because my parents were so busy with their work, they tried their best to
fulfill any wish I had to compensate for their absence, and whenever they have
time, they would take me to any place I want, so I didn't have much to ask for. I
wouldn't call myself a person with an ambitious goal, like make China great again
or, Chinese dream, etc. The one and only thing that makes my heart sing are to
be outstanding enough so that my parents won't worry about whether if I can take
care of myself once they are gone, and also won't ruin the legacy the built, I have
been thinking about this since middle school. But recently, as I enjoy the benefit
my parents give me, I started to wonder if I can provide the same to my children.
Gallio said: " Your passion is not a passing interest or even a hobby. A passion is
something that is intensely meaningful and core to your identity." These are my
passion and reasons for me to get up every day. I would say it influenced my
daily activities because I realized these, I had no goal or a destination that I
wanted to go, now my life has meaning and I have a goal to pursue.
When I was watching Richard St. John’s TED talk, I saw the passion in his eyes
and the pride on his face, he was very much proud of his achievement, and I
want that one day. In his speech, he mentioned that when people succeed,
someone might stop doing whatever they were doing on their way to success,
and that would bring them back to square one, I couldn't agree more with this. My
father always says: " life is a journey, and one the way, you keep learning and
perfecting yourself, never stop learning." Richard mentioned 8 steps on the road
to success, they were passion, work, focus, push, ideas, improve, serve, and
persist. I cannot understand the first seven but I do know about the last one.
Throughout my whole life, I have learned so many about persistence being the
most essential quality for a successful leader. When you reach a certain point in
one's life, you might start to lose track of your goal, his passion. This will affect
your business a lot, especially in situations like a business meeting with potential
partners, or a negotiation with a supplier, when they see no passion and sincerity
in your eyes, you will lose your leverage to a successful meeting. Which could be
the beginning of failure. In conclusion, in order to succeed and maintain it, you
need the one thing that makes your heart thing, they might be permeant, so you
need to keep looking,
